The Prophet (pbuh) is reported to have said as narrated in Sahih al-Bukhari on the authority of Abu Musa:
The Prophet said, “Near the establishment of the Hour there will be days during which (religious) knowledge will be taken away (vanish) and general ignorance will spread…”
So, one of the signs of the end of time is that religious knowledge will be removed from the Earth. We live in a time when the traditional teachings of Islam encompassed by the three schools of Aqida (Theology), the four schools of Fiqh (Jurisprudence) and the various Tariqah of Sufism (Spirituality) are being much maligned and attacked. Groups of Muslims in our time claim to promote concepts of Salafism (following only those who came within the first three generations of Muslims) and a “do it yourself” understanding of the religion i.e. one which is wholly outside the framework within which Islam has lived for the past 1200 years. This pseudo-salafism often competing with pseudo-sufism and pseudo-sunnism places its emphasis on either a very small number of scholars or a lack of thoroughness within the sciences of religion. This often gives rise to great aberrations in understanding and it cannot be ignored that we live in times of great trials and tribulations.
There is also a competing force for the hearts and faith of our Muslims which is that of militant-atheism or neo-atheism which is slowly eroding people’s faith such that their beliefs in the core tenants of the religion are weakened day by day. As the world wages a media war on Islam those who are growing up in the faith as well as those who are established are asking what Islam really stands for. It is with this in mind that we come to the Aim of Lote Tree.
